How is everybody not freaking out over how great Boyz is? It's a great song, has such amazing dancing in the video. The freshest thing all year. Saw it two months ago, but assumed we were waiting to freak out until the album came out. Well now it's leaked, so I'm officially freaking out. This song, video... everything is amazing.

Also: there is a YouTube thing going on where people are dancing like crazy to this song and making little videos. And they're all great.

Mariah Carey's Fantasy is a really cool song. And it's based on a sample of another cool song , Genius of Love (direct link to mp3 snippet) by the Tom Tom Club.

So it's cool to witness the live (?) sampling of a beat, baseline, and hook all from a single violin in this video of a performance of Final Fantasy's cover of Mariah Carey's Fantasy.

I demand you watch this video at least through the first chorus. This is not a joke performance.

More info? Final Fantasy is pretty much one guy, Owen Pallett. He also plays in the very popular band, Arcade Fire.

what's it called when you can't make up your mind about a song? this week i was stuck at song 5 for like a fafillion years. i don't know what's wrong with me. i can get any song i want. some people have to sell their finger for a song, and i can just go out and get any song i want. and i can't even pick a stinkin 5th song.

well, i'm not gonna tell you which song was the tough call. maybe one sticks out as the outsider song. maybe not. i'm not gonna draw attention to it.

oh, what's it called when you can't pick a song? Picker's Block, i guess. but also: commitment issues.

You should probably see the Danielson documentary

... couple months ago, 0047 and i saw the Danielson documentary, "Danielson: A Family Movie," in San Francisco at the SF Indie Fest. And now, it's kinda important that I talk about it, coz it was pretty good. i like Danielson's music, 0047 doesn't so much, yet we both really liked the movie a lot. It's just great to see really inspired people listen to themselves.

It's a small, DIY movie and doesn't seem to be showing that many places so far. So if you're in one of the places it is showing, you should probably see it! Hopefully some intense reaction can help it show more places.
